## At a glance

For an EU-citizen family of five living off a EUR 30M portfolio (the guide's default reader).

- Score for a wealthy family: 60 / 100
- Tax on a €30M portfolio: €99,600 a year
- Wealth tax: none
- Children inherit: tax-free
- EU member: no
- Currency: MNT
- Capital: Ulaanbaatar

## Tax on investments, inheritance and wealth

Mongolia taxes residents' income from property at flat rates: 10% on net capital gains from securities and 10% on dividends and interest (5% for shares of local listed companies), 2% of gross proceeds on real estate sales. Foreign tax is credited. No wealth, inheritance or gift tax; annual immovable property tax of 0.6% to 2%. Corporate tax 10%/25%.

- **Mongolia tax residence**: Flat 10% on gains and dividends; no wealth or inheritance tax.

## Inheritance law and trusts

A will must leave at least two thirds of the inheritance to the testator's children (including disabled and posthumous), disabled spouse and parents who would be heirs (Civil Code art. 522.3). Inheritance is governed by the law of permanent residence, and Mongolian law governs Mongolian land. I found no trust law, and foundations are for public benefit.

- PwC states residents are taxed on income from property but the individual pages do not spell out worldwide scope; inferred from the foreign tax credit provision.
- Whether gifts or inheritances received by individuals count as taxable income under the PIT Law was not verified.
