Tax on investments, inheritance and wealth
Dominica taxes resident individuals on worldwide income at up to 35% (above XCD 80,000 including the XCD 30,000 allowance), so foreign dividends and interest are taxed, with a unilateral foreign tax credit. There is no capital gains, inheritance, estate or wealth tax. Domestic dividends carry a dividend tax credit that largely removes the tax. Residents who are not ordinarily resident are taxed on foreign income only when received in Dominica. Citizenship by investment from USD 200,000.
- Resident: Resident individuals are taxed on worldwide income; no capital gains tax.
Income tax for employees and remote workers
Residents pay 15% on the first XCD 20,000 of taxable income, 25% on the next XCD 30,000 and 35% above, after a XCD 30,000 personal allowance. Employees pay 6.75% social security up to XCD 7,000 a month.
How to get residence
No free movement for anyone. Dominica has the cheapest Caribbean citizenship route: USD 200,000 donation for a single applicant (Economic Diversification Fund) or USD 200,000 in approved real estate plus a USD 75,000 government fee. The Work in Nature extended stay visa is for remote workers. UK visa-free access ended in July 2023 and the US restricts entry at some level since December 2025.
