Cost of living notes
City: Road Town (Tortola).
- Prime rent: USD 3,500 a month, the median of the three 4-5 bedroom long-term rentals on Smiths Gore's long-term rental page (15 Oct 2026): Havers House villa (5 bed) USD 7,500, McNamara (4 bed apartment) USD 3,500, Great Mountain (4 bed apartment) USD 3,200. Thin sample; the only villa is USD 7,500, so the median is a floor for a family-size house.
- International school: Cedar International School (IB), DP1-DP2 tuition 2026-27 USD 23,870 a year paid annually (MYP4-5 USD 23,480), plus a USD 75 a month development fee and secondary lab/textbook costs.
- Price per m2, health insurance, housekeeper: not sourced.
Open questions
- Deloitte 2026 edition not available; 2025 edition used. 2025/2026 reforms not checked (web search budget exhausted).
- Indicator gaps (checked 2026-10-15): the World Bank WGI dataset has no British Virgin Islands entry at all (the API returns no row under any code), so stability, legal and corruption scores cannot be filled with a same-definition value. The latest World Bank/UNODC homicide rate is from 2006 (8.2 per 100,000), too old for the pipeline; no current Royal Virgin Islands Police Force or statistics-office figure was reachable (gov.vg statistics page has no data tables). Life expectancy (2024) and internet use (2017) are already in the World Bank data. Not proxied from the UK.
